How to use it

  1. Enter a size and choose its unit.
  2. Choose the target unit.
  3. Compare decimal and binary units in the table.

Examples

  • 1 GB = 1,000 MB (decimal, used by drive makers)
  • 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB (binary)
  • 1 GiB ≈ 1.0737 GB

KB, MB and GB use powers of 1,000 (SI). KiB, MiB and GiB use powers of 1,024. Windows often shows binary sizes but labels them GB, which is why a “500 GB” drive looks smaller there.
